The nearby seaside town of Nairn, just 5 minutes drive away, has Victorian promenades, award-winning sandy beaches and a lovely traditional harbour.  Here there are a good selection of local shops in the traditional high street, as well as pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants. It is said to have a unique micro-climate which produces more hours of sunshine than other towns in the vicinity.

The area is also noted for its wealth of sporting activities. Horse riding, cycling, sailing, wind-surfing, canoeing and fishing are all enjoyed locally.

This Moray Firth coast is renowned for its fine beaches and its sealife, particularly the bottle-nosed dolphins and colonies of seals that are regularly spotted close to shore.  

Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, with two championship golf courses in the town and  a further 15 golf courses within a short drive, including Castle Stuart Golf course, home of the Scottish Open 2011, 2012 and 2013.

There are numerous places of interest within easy reach. Cawdor Castle, noted for its superb gardens and connection with Macbeth, is well worth a visit, as is Culloden battlefield, with its newly refurbished visitor centre and “Culloden Experience”. Fort George and the Whisky and Castle Trails are also popular with visitors.  

Aviemore, approximately 30 minutes drive away, is also readily accessible.  Here the Cairngorm Mountains offer something for everyone, including mountain biking, skiing, snow-boarding, white water rafting, quad biking and climbing.  For the less energetic the Cairngorm Funicular Railway takes visitors up the mountainside to enjoy the amazing views from the top.  Visit the Cairngorm Reindeer herd, the only freely roaming reindeer in the British Isles or be pulled through the foothills of the mountains by the local husky team.

Inverness, the capital city of the Highlands is just 20 minutes drive away.
